Insulating My Home

Hello! Six months on from my last update and things are going perfectly according to plan. The rough-in for the plumbing and electricals went well and everything is now officially complete from their end. I’m really happy with the results both the plumber and electrician produced, and I’ve recommended them to my boss as people we can work with in the future.

Today I will start the process of putting up and installing all the insulation in the house. The insulation covers all the walls of the house and will help to keep me warm in winter and cool in the summer. As always, I’ll be getting my tools and equipment from the hardware store near Bentleigh because it’s local and of extremely good quality. As I’ve mentioned before, I know my stuff, and I know that what they sell is going to last the wear and tear a house goes through for many years.

Funnily enough, installing insulation is one of my favourite things to do as a part of the build process. This is actually a pretty unpopular opinion as most people prefer doing other things, more grand things, but I don’t. I like knowing that I’m literally the reason that someone stays warm at night. I feel like I’m protecting the people that will live in the house, and in this case, that person is me. I will make sure that I do an extremely good job with my house’s insulation.

Seeing as I’ve spent so much time at the hardware store, I’ve actually befriended the people who sell me building supplies. Cheltenham people are really friendly and that’s something that I’ll miss when I move, but the way of life that my new home will provide me with is too appealing to give up. I’m looking forward to the next couple of weeks where I can just slowly insulate my home. It’ll be therapeutic.
